My Teaching Philosophy
Create an environment where students can:
Explore, engage, and grow through music in meaningful ways
Connect to each other, the world around us, and the experiences we all share as humans.
Use the tools they have learned to perform music as a means to share their art and their voice in a meaningful way.
Student-centered approach:
Helps students engage with music more deeply and create a better understanding and appreciation of their art form.
Encourages students to explore and be curious about questions that might arise in rehearsal or in their own practice.
As collaborators in music making, we work together to create goals and plans to accomplish them using varied pedagogical methods to build strong fundamentals and cultivate musicality.
My Goal:
Be an advocate of learning styles that are supportive, diverse, and inspiring.
I hope to shape musicians who are not only technically proficient, but connected to their craft, their peers, and the world at large in meaningful ways.
I strive to prepare my students to be successful, adaptable, and thoughtful musicians, equipped with the skills to engage with music in ways that are meaningful both personally and professionally.
